Promoting Interoperability Program

Previously known as the EHR Incentive Program

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has renamed the EHR Incentive Programs to the Promoting Interoperability (PI) Programs. Click here for more information.

The New Jersey Innovation Institute’s (NJII) Medicaid Provider Program (MPP) expansion is being funded through a grant from the New Jersey Department of Human Services, Division of Medical Assistance and Health Services that was awarded in October, 2017.  The program funds up to 1,250 providers in achieving the Medicaid Promoting Interoperability Program.

The program builds upon an initial grant from the Office of National Coordinator that was awarded to New Jersey Innovation Institute (formerly NJ-HITECH) in 2010, from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Eligible professionals can receive up to $63,750 in the Medicaid Promoting Interoperability Program over 6 years if they maintain program eligibility. Since New Jersey Medicaid processes provider payments on a weekly basis, a provider whose PI Program attestation is approved can expect disbursement of their payment 3-5 weeks after notification that their attestation has been accepted by the State.

Note: 2016 was the last year to begin participating in the Medicaid PI Program (Previously known as the EHR Incentive Program).

I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for being a huge help to me during MedOptions attestation process… You have educated me and made the process easy for me to understand… You are a pleasure to work with and I don’t think I could’ve got through this without you.
Lenae Picco, Audit Supervisor
