Exciting Launch of NJII’s AI Division

We are thrilled to announce the official launch of the New Jersey Innovation Institute’s (NJII) Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Division—NJII’s fifth business division—dedicated to helping businesses harness the power of AI. This new initiative features New Jersey’s first and only AI Job Shop, designed to bridge the gap between advanced AI technologies and practical business applications.

Under the leadership of Tom Villani, Ph.D., VP of AI/ML, the division aims to empower organizations—particularly small businesses—to integrate AI solutions that drive innovation and enhance operational efficiency. We are currently seeking candidates for our competitive AI internship opportunities for 2025, providing students with invaluable hands-on experience in real-world AI projects.

In addition to these internship opportunities, the AI division is actively partnered with several startups and large companies to conduct cutting-edge AI research. Through these collaborations, we aim to push the boundaries of what is possible with AI and deliver impactful solutions across various sectors.

We are also excited to continue our collaboration with the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, where we are developing AI systems for the automatic review of body-worn camera footage. This project exemplifies our commitment to applying advanced AI technologies to improve public safety and operational effectiveness in law enforcement.

By leveraging NJIT’s extensive resources and fostering partnerships, we aim to create a vibrant ecosystem for AI innovation in New Jersey. For more information about our AI services and to learn how we can assist your organization, please visit our AI overview page.
