NJII’s robust healthcare division works to improve patient experience and population health while reducing the cost of healthcare with innovation, technology, and metrics.
Newark, NJ (September 14, 2021) – New Jersey Innovation Institute (NJII) announced today that it has joined the Strategic Health Information Exchange Collaborative (SHIEC). SHIEC is the national trade association representing health information exchanges (HIEs) and their strategic business and technology partners.
NJII aims to revolutionize healthcare through data-driven transformation. Since its formation in 2015, the healthcare division has earned more than $120 million in grants from both the federal and state governments to manage large scale interoperability projects and help healthcare delivery organizations participate in and benefit from government sponsored programs. NJII manages the New Jersey Health Information Network (NJHIN) on behalf of the Department of Health, enabling the electronic exchange of patient health information among trusted data sources across the entire state of New Jersey.
“As an organization focused on continually improving healthcare interoperability, joining SHIEC is a great step forward for NJII in terms of expanding our reach and collaborating with HIEs nationwide,” said Jennifer D’Angelo, Senior Vice President and General Manager of the healthcare division at NJII. “Together, SHIEC and NJII can move the needle forward to ultimately transform the patient experience and overall healthcare delivery.”
“SHIEC is excited to have NJII join our HIE community,” said Lisa Bari, Interim CEO of SHIEC. “SHIEC enables the secure exchange of patient information to improve the quality, coordination, and cost-effectiveness of healthcare locally, regionally, and nationally. As a leader in healthcare interoperability, NJII plays an integral role in the healthIT space and will serve as an invaluable resource in our mission to continue positively impacting patient care. SHIEC looks forward to working with NJII.”
