CEO & Co-Founder
Health IT Connections member Rachel Trobman talks about how Americans suffer from chronic pain and the changes happening at Upside Health. “There are more than 116 million Americans who suffer from chronic pain and more than 25 million Americans who experience pain daily. Beyond being a large problem, it’s also a very expensive one – employers, health systems and insurance companies spend at least $260 billion annually on chronic pain. These costs can be attributed to an increase in doctors’ visits, imaging and hospitalization. In fact, chronic pain patients use two to three times more services after diagnosis” says Rachel.
Upside Health was selected to be part of Quake Capital’s Fall 2018 cohort in New York City. In addition to leading Upside Health’s current funding round, the Quake accelerator is providing Upside Health with office space, networking, mentorship and hiring support. They were also chosen to participate in Hofstra University’s Community Healthcare Challenge, which aims to cultivate companies solving community health challenges facing New York. Additionally, Upside Health has brought on a VP of Sales. Bryan Matsinger joins the company after more than two decades of senior IT sales experience, particularly in the digital health and life science arena.
Rachel Trobman (BA NYU, Yale certificate program from Yale School of Medicine), CEO and Co-Founder, spent 10 years as a news producer, working for NY1, the New York Times and the TODAY Show before being the first employee at a digital media company (Zazoom Media Group) where she led content development and partnerships.
She found the Health IT Connections Program to be a great resource for her company. She’s currently hiring a back-end engineer with experience working on HIPAA-compliant solutions and EHR integrations. Rachel is also looking to team up with innovative health systems who are looking to tackle the problem of chronic pain head on, while obtaining valuable data.
