by Stephanie Macias, March 17, 2017

Newark, March 17, 2017:  The Enterprise Development Center, an NJIT/NJII organization, will join Gearhart Law as co-hosting sponsor of the 3rd Annual Global Intellectual Property and Business Symposium being held on April 3, 2017 at New Jersey Institute of Technology in Newark, N.J.

The Global Intellectual Property and Business Symposium is an annual gathering of domestic and foreign attorneys, business leaders, and government officials for discussions on global affairs, regulatory trends, and trade insights. The Symposium will feature panels on The First 100 Days of the New Administration and Entrepreneurship, Brexit and Global Entrepreneurship, Expanding Cuba and U.S. Relations, Investment Sources and Requirements, and an Inventors Showcase. Past Global Symposiums have explored the global impact of trade and business in China, India, and Israel.

A highly anticipated keynote address will be made by Amb. Mark Entwistle, co-Managing Partner of Atlantic Advisory Partners, a partnership between Spitzberg Partners LLC and Acasta Capital Inc. that specializes in facilitating trade and investment between Europe and Canada. He is also a founding partner of Acasta Capital and a globally recognized expert in Cuban affairs and business, as well as former Canadian ambassador to Cuba, career diplomat, press secretary to the prime minister of Canada and senior aide to the Canadian foreign minister. Having spent 24 years involved in Cuban affairs, he is one of the world’s leading experts on Cuba.

This will be the first Global Intellectual Property and Business Symposium held on the campus of New Jersey Institute of Technology.

“In the past, only large companies could achieve a global presence, but with the tools available today more small businesses are finding it easier than ever before to expand internationally,” says Richard Gearhart, the founder of Gearhart Law. “With the EDC’s record of helping companies develop and grow, this is the perfect place for a global symposium. We hope the entrepreneurs that attend learn valuable tools to help take their companies global.”

Jerry Creighton Sr., EDC’s executive director, agrees stating “We welcome the opportunity to partner with Gearhart Law for the Global Symposium event. Gearhart Law has been a steadfast sponsor of the entrepreneurial ecosystem at NJIT for many years. The Symposium is an opportunity for both of our client-bases to meet and connect with one another while learning about the global state of business affairs.”

The Global Intellectual Property and Business Symposium is being held at New Jersey Institute of Technology’s Eberhardt Hall located at 323 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, Newark, N.J. from 1:00pm to 6:30pm. Free parking will be provided for all attendees. To register and access the full agenda, visit
