INTERVIEW WITH LINH LE, CEO OF BONBOUTON

INTERVIEW WITH LINH LE, CEO OF BONBOUTON

by Tamara Williams, July 6, 2018

Linh Le

CEO

Bonbouton

Linh Le of the Health IT Connections Program discusses issues facing diabetics. “Chronic disease is one of the most pressing and costly issues facing our healthcare system today. Specifically for patients with diabetes, ignorance of foot health status can be devastating medically, emotionally and financially. Two of the major foot complications in diabetics are foot ulcerations and a bone/tissue deformity called Charcot neuropathic osteoarthropathy (Charcot), says Linh”.

Bonbouton smart insoles enable earlier detection of signals that can lead to foot ulcers and Charcot in diabetic patients which can lead to more serious complications including foot or lower limb amputations. “With our continuous monitoring platform, clinical interventions can occur earlier in the progression of foot ulcers enabling better patient outcomes. With 30 million diabetic patients in the U.S. alone, and with 25% of these patients experiencing foot ulcers that can lead to severe complications including amputation, this is an essential product to address this critical need. To improve monitoring in diabetics at risk for foot ulcers, our smart insoles embed a molecularly thin graphene sensor layer that can detect extremely precise (0.01 degree C) heat fluctuations that serve as a signal of developing foot ulcers and other serious complications. Our connected mobile app provides real time notifications for patients and physicians when clinical interventions are necessary, allowing for improved patient outcomes and reduced risks for amputation and mortality” says Linh.

Currently Linh is interested in connecting with investors and technology partners in the diabetes and chronic care space, or ones interested in wearable nanotechnology and sensor applications.

Linh Le, Founder, CEO oversees all product development, R&D, and grant funding. His background in scientific research of graphene production methods led to multiple patents, published papers, conference proceedings, and related awards. He received his MS in Chemical Engineering from Columbia University and BS in Chemistry from Vietnam National University.
